The short version. Spotter is a free, invite-only beta. The AI writes drafts; the trainer decides what a client actually does and is responsible for it. Spotter is not medical advice. Exercise has risks, so stop and see a clinician if something hurts. The beta can change or end, and we will give notice before it does.
These terms are an agreement between you and Spotter (“we”, “us”) for using the Spotter website and app (“Spotter”). By requesting an invite, creating an account or using Spotter, you agree to them and to the Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use Spotter.
1. The beta
Spotter is in an invite-only beta and is free while the beta lasts. Features will change, some will break, and data could be lost, so keep your own records of anything you can’t afford to lose. We may change, pause or end the beta. Before we shut Spotter down, we will give account holders at least 30 days’ notice and a way to get a copy of their data. If we ever start charging, we will tell you first, and nothing will be charged without your agreement.
2. Who can use Spotter
- Trainer accounts are for adults (18 or older) who train clients.
- Client accounts are created from a trainer’s invite. Clients must be at least 13, and clients under 18 need a parent or guardian’s permission.
- An invite link is for the person it was sent to. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
3. Trainers approve every workout
Spotter uses AI to draft workouts, suggest substitutions, turn your spoken notes into logged sets, and write check-in messages and session openers, using your programming profile and your client’s details and logs. All of it is a starting point. AI can be wrong: it can misjudge a load, miss a limitation, suggest an exercise that doesn’t suit the person in front of you, or mishear what you said into a voice note.
If you are a trainer, you agree that:
- You review every workout before you assign it, and you are responsible for what you assign, just as you would be if you had written it by hand.
- You use your own professional judgment, work within your qualifications, and carry whatever certification, insurance and health screening your practice and your location require.
- You have your clients’ permission to enter their information into Spotter and to invite them, and you have told them you use it.
- You tell a client that you record voice notes before you record one near them, and you don’t record where people expect privacy. Some states require everyone in a conversation to agree before it is recorded; meeting that rule is your responsibility, not Spotter’s.
- You refer a client to a qualified clinician when something points to injury or illness.
4. Not medical advice
Spotter is a training tool. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Nothing in Spotter is medical advice, and it is no substitute for a doctor, physical therapist or other clinician.
If you are a client: talk to a doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you have a health condition, an injury or are pregnant. Follow your trainer’s guidance, work within your limits, and stop right away if you feel pain, dizziness, chest pain or shortness of breath. Exercise carries a risk of injury, and you accept that risk when you train.
5. Your content
What you put into Spotter (programming profiles, custom exercises, workouts, client records, logs, messages and voice notes) stays yours. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display it only as needed to run Spotter for you, including sending the relevant parts to the AI providers described in the Privacy Policy. That permission ends when your content is deleted, apart from copies in backups that expire on their normal schedule.
You are responsible for your content and for having the right to share it. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law, or use Spotter to harass, deceive or harm anyone;
- try to reach accounts or data that aren’t yours, or get around Spotter’s security or usage limits;
- try to make the AI ignore its instructions, produce harmful content, or reveal information about other users;
- scrape, copy or resell Spotter, or overload it with automated requests;
- upload anything malicious, or anything you don’t have the right to share.
7. Ending your use
You can stop using Spotter at any time and ask us to delete your account by writing to contact@spottercoach.app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other users or the service at risk. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why first. Sections 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 11 continue to apply after an account is closed.
8. No warranty
Spotter is a free beta provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, including that any AI draft or substitution will be correct or safe for a particular person.
9. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or injury arising from workouts, whether or not we were told they were possible. Our total liability for any claim relating to Spotter is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100). Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
10. Responsibility for your clients
If you are a trainer, you agree to cover us for claims brought by your clients or others arising from workouts you assign, your training services, your content, or your breaking these terms, including reasonable legal costs.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
12. Changes to these terms
When these terms change, we update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell account holders by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Spotter after that means you accept the new terms.
13. Contact
